During the 2007-2013 programming period the Cohesion Fund supported projects that reconstructed over 110 km of railway in Lithuania, making train travel more attractive and competitive. The new railway gauge will integrate the Lithuanian railway system more efficiently into the wider European railway transport system, making it easier for people and goods to move within and between Member States. This work falls under the priority “Development of trans-European Transport Networks”.
