As of October 2016 Transparency International Bulgaria is conducting an independent civil monitoring over the public procurement procedure for building the longest tunnel in Bulgaria – the Cohesion funded-Zheleznitsa tunnel. The initiative began with the Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency signing the commitment for cooperation with Transparency International. This cooperation is an example of how the Commission’s ‘Integrity Pacts’ project was put into practice, aiming to prevent corruption and fraud in EU-funded projects.
