The 3 generations of project management

Lesson 1 | Topic 2: The 3 generations of project management

Project management theory was not built in one day. It followed an historical evolution that you can see in any country or organisation.

From a very “generous” approach where everyone was potentially “eligible”, but suceptible to join a waiting list or to be requested a lot of formalities.

To a more demanding one where only the few contributors to a Strategy are funded, making the preparation and reporting more demanding and streamlined.

Let’s see the steps of evolution of the method, where you will find in the middle the project generation, insisting on the quality of projects, it’s relevance and consistency.

At the end of day we are often navigating in between the 3 generations, depending on programmes and countries, up to you to make your own blend knowing the differences.
